A03 Biology Group reported its latest research work in Nature Communications.

Dr. Fujishiro and co-workers reported the first X-ray crystal structure of a class III hybrid cluster protein (HCP), which is an ancestor of Ni, Fe-carbon monoxide dehydrogenases (CODHs) essential for CO metabolisms in anaerobic biological world.
This work provides insights into structural evolution of CODH/HCP superfamily at an anaerobic, CO-rich, early stage of life, enabling us to highlight co-evolution of the biological CO world and CODH enzymes.
This research paper is now on-line in Nature Communications (from Sep. 14th, 2023).
